Social And Emotional Aspects Of Learning And Development
The primary purpose of the session is to equip teachers with the theoretical knowledge and practical strategies to foster an emotionally healthy classroom. We will explore how specific emotions can provide obstacles to effective learning, while discussing how teachers can start to develop an inner resilience that will help the child in the classroom and throughout their life. Although the emphasis will be on the practical, recent developments (Ofsted EIF 2019) and relevant psychological theories will be weaved into the tasks to allow teachers to plan effective lessons and refine their practice. The session is designed to ensure maximum participation through AfL, group tasks and individual reflections, and culminates in a PSE lesson where the participants will be asked to use their learning from the course to provide feedback on the lesson.
