NQT KS1 and KS2 - Managing Relationships - Working Effectively with Colleagues and Parents

Autumn One: Theme - ‘Getting organised, being safe and preparing children to learn’

Outline

Managing Relationships: Working Effectively with Colleagues and Parents

Description

The session will emphasise the vital role of positive professional relationships with all members of the school community. The first part of the session will give teachers opportunities to apply strategies to manage challenging parents. Each teacher will face two difficult conversations and will reflect on how they can use the experience for their current parents. We will then describe the perfect teacher-TA relationship before exploring how strategies to enhance communication (listening, enforcing professional boundaries, praise) can improve the teacher-TA relationship. The final part of the session will underline the importance of developing positive relationships with all staff and ask teachers to pinpoint two working relationships to improve before the next session.
